ModenaFiere is proud to announce that will host the second stop of the 2018/19 FIS big air World Cup during the 25th edition of Skipass. An impressive ramp of 46 metres high and more than 130 metres long will be built for the competition – the largest such ramp to be constructed in Italy. Finals of the FIS snowboard big air World Cup competition will take place on Saturday 3rd November, while the freeski finals will be held on Sunday 4th November.
After the first stop of the 2018/19 FIS big air World Cup in Cardrona, New Zealand, the best 70 snowboarders and freeskiers in the world will look forward to their next competition in Modena where they will be able test their skills and compete on the best and biggest jump ever built in Italy for a chance at 100,000 CHF in prize money.
The whole Italian team will work together to build the massive structure, under the supervision of Roby Moresi, the FIS race director. “Modena has been the centre of freestyle activities for many years. Thanks to this collaboration between ModenaFiere and FISI (Italian Federation of Winter Sports) we will be able to live an extraordinary experience in November. Hosting two FIS World Cup events represents an important step in the history of our sport“, stated Roby Moresi.
Alfonso Panzani, the president of ModenaFiere showed the same excitement of Moresi: “Being able to host FIS World Cup in Modena during its 25th anniversary is sensational. This high-level competition will be a great achievement for all involved in the leading sport and tourism fair in Italy. It fills us with pride knowing that we will be able to welcome such an important event during our exhibition in a city like Modena that has a very profound bond with winter sports“.
Flavio Roda, FISI president:” With the Modena event, Italy will organize eight Snowboard and Freeski World Cup stages the next season, becoming one of the most important nations for the movement. We are very proud and sure that our athletes will do their best to achieve important results in Italian competitions“.
