Today we made history. Iouri ‘Ipod’ Podladtchikov deservedly won the final of the men’s snowboard halfpipe, with a near perfect run, in front of the Japanese Ayumu Hirano and Taku Hiraoka. Why is it history? For many reasons, the first is that there is no podium Shaun White. The living legend of the sport must be satisfied with the medal of wood, but the U.S. is certainly not an evening to remember: in both run wrong, totally in the first, the second is imperfect in many landings, and then finished fourth, showing us that he is human after delighting us during qualifying and then he can’t be repeated in the final.
