English Version
The Vans Pro Skate World Tour is on! Geoff Rowley, Dustin Dollin and Chris
Pfanner split Paris Sunday afternoon after an epic Downtown Showdown and
headed to England to meet up with Chima, JLay, Daniel Lutheran and Rowan
Zorilla for a mellow signing at the Vans Camden store and some casual
paling around London with the crew. The real adventure began on Tuesday,
with our first skate demo at the legendary skate spot, Southbank. We’re
all keeping our fingers crossed that this isn’t our last time ever skating
this historic spot.
Our first demo of the Pro Skate World Tour was a huge success with people
packing in ass to elbow at London’s legendary Southbank skate spot! The
iconic spot that has stood the test of time since the 1950s is under
threat of being demolished to make more retail space, but the local skate
community is battling to keep developers from levelling the sacred and
iconic ground. So aside from our skate team killing the demo and putting a
whooping on the stairs and the Jersey barrier, our demo also helped raise
awareness about the plight of Southbank. The hardworking and diligent
volunteers of the Long Live Southbank organization were militarized,
gathering signatures on petitions to save the spot. If you didn’t make it
down, please take a moment to check out their site and electronically sign
the Save Southbank petition.
In the end some epic skating went down yesterday at a legendary spot by
the entire team, including some local UK legends in their own right, Geoff
Rowley and Danny Wainwright, before we all skated off into the night.
Particular stand-outs were Johnny Layton, whose no comply 360 kickflip
body varial on the stairs saw the 400 strong crowd going nuts, as did
Rowan Zorilla’s frontside alley-oop hurricane. They guys were all having
fun in this awesome setting, under sunny skies and an amazing atmosphere
from the crowd made it feel more like a session than an organised demo.
Geoff Rowley got a little carried away towards the end, eventually
snapping his board on a half cab heelflip!
Following this, the action moved to Bristol, and to Danny Wainwright’s
store; the infamous Fifty Fifty. Here the guys were greeted by hundreds of
fans waiting to meet the Vans Global Skate Team. With more great weather
and good vibes, the pros signed for hours and enjoyed chilling with the
locals.
Tonight the crew hits Liverpool, UK, so get yourself down there, and
follow the rest of the action on the Pro Skate World Tour Blog, updated
each day with photos and videos!
